Lisa Fitzpatrick’s Autumn / Winter 2017 Tips with Navan Town Centre - *See our Competition within the blog*
We’ve been lucky to have a fairly sunny summer (for Ireland’s standard anyway!) and have had the pleasure of dressing up in fun, bright summer colours, whether that may have been for weddings, BBQs, picnics in the park and summer holidays. For now, though, as the leaves turn crisp and a slightly colder air approaches, it’s time to start updating the wardrobe for autumn and winter. I’ve had a look at what will be hitting the shops in the Navan Town Centre and have pulled together some of my favourite pieces. Happy shopping!
One of the most important things you can invest in to update your winter wardrobe is of course the classic coat. Not only can coats protect us against the bitter winter chill but they can change an outfit around instantly providing us with a classic look. I love this oxblood coat from River Island priced at €113. Neutral colours like grey, black and white work best with a colour like this, which is why I have picked these grey checked trousers also from River Island, priced at €60. Finally, complete the look with this River Island baker boy hat, €25, to add some understated chicness.
For winter weddings and nights out, stay stylish with Preppy’s beautiful and luxurious suede capes available in red, navy and black. These capes will keep you warm but doesn’t have the restriction of a jacket. The variety of colours mean that one will certainly suit your dress for the winter wedding or will add an air of elegance over a pair of skinny jeans with a peplum top and high heels. The capes are priced at €75 and are sure to be your go to item for winter parties.
Winter Work Wardrobe:
The cold, dark winter mornings mean that we would simply love to roll out of bed into a big warm woolly jumper and then make our way to work! Fortunately, Pamela Scott is on hand to provide us with some stylish winter work wear options. When it comes to winter colours black is generally our go to colour but Pamela Scott have some lovely silky tops that add a subtle hint of colour to our winter wardrobe. I love this silky peach top with hints of black and orange (€69.99) in outfit one, as it really gives life to an outfit without it being too bright for winter. At this time of the year we want to avoid bright colours like fuchsia but adding pale pinks is a great addition to slightly warm up a winter wardrobe. This second top adorned with butterflies also from Pamela Scott (€69.95) is lovely for work, especially on Fridays when it can take you from the workplace to after work drinks.
Winter Makeup Looks:
As the cooler months takes hold not only do we need to update our wardrobe but also our vanity table and Boots have some beautiful, rich winter colours. I love this No7 Match Made Stay Perfect lipstick in raspberry blush (€14). Dark colours like berries and crimsons are essential for autumn and winter makeup looks and the best thing about this No7 lipstick is that it is intensely pigmented meaning that the colour lasts up to 8 hours while leaving your lips feeling comfortable and hydrated. Another essential element of the winter makeup is the classic smoky eye and once again Boots is here to help us achieve this look. With the No7 Smoky Eye Palette (€18.50) you can create an endless spectrum of looks suitable for both day and night. The formula feels butter soft to the touch and glides on smoothly and evenly across the eyelid with one stroke of a brush. Apply with the No7 eye shadow brush to blend the look that will last all day.
Something for the Men:
Who says men can’t be stylish and they too need to update their wardrobe once autumn and winter rolls around! A coat is a fabulous investment and this dark beige hue coat (€100) from River Island is perfect for the fashion savvy man. If you’re looking for something a little more casual, this River Island fur trim parka (€235) is sure to be a winner to keep you warm during the colder months. Also from River Island this brown boot (€60) are a key staple for anyway wardrobe and will bring you right up to spring.
Classic men’s wear brand Jack & Jones also has some fantastic pieces in for autumn and winter. These button-down Oxford shirts (€39.95) come in a variety of colours and are extremely versatile as they are suitable for work wear, weekend wear and even evening wear too. Another great shirt for the weekends in rich autumnal colours are these checked shirts (€34.99). They’re made from lightly brushed cotton giving a soft feel. Finally, if your office look is a little more casual, these beige shoes (€59.99) will go with every colour in your wardrobe and will be a weekend staple.
